How can acupuncture help?

You may want to arrive about 15 minutes before your appointment to fill out our paperwork, or you can download it here and bring it with you. During your first appointment, your practitioner will assess your complaint and will perform a treatment in a treatment room all to yourself. Your first treatment may include acupuncture, massage, moxibustion, cupping, heat therapy, or other modalities depending upon your needs.

If you came for a community treatment, other clients may also be in a larger treatment room with you. Rather than massage tables, community treatments take place in chairs.

One of the main questions most people have is what the acupuncture needles feel like. Different people have different experiences: some people feel a heaviness when needled, some feel warmth or coolness, some feel a dull ache, and some feel absolutely nothing. These sensations fade rapidly and most patients experience a soothing, relaxing feeling for the duration of the treatment. (Many people fall asleep!)

- Make sure you’ve eaten within an hour or two before your acupuncture session; some people can feel dizzy after the treatment and eating helps reduce this.
- Wear loose-fitting clothes that make it easy to expose your forearms, lower legs, and abdomen.

NAET Allergy Elimination

Community Acupuncture

Massage therapy uses a variety of hands-on techniques to relax stress and relieve muscle tension. Based upon your preferences and health goals, your practitioner will use a variety of techniques including Swedish massage techniques, deep tissue massage, and tui na.

Blue Lotus is grateful for our veterans' service, and is pleased to offer affordable community acupuncture treatments for veterans. Held the second Monday of each month, treatments can help with symptoms of PTSD, pain, depression, and much more.

While traditional massage releases tension through compressing tissue, cupping therapy achieves the same goal by gently lifting tight muscles. This enhances circulation, greatly aiding your body in its ability to heal.

Ear Candling

Gua Sha

Essential Oils

Ear candling gently breaks up and removes wax build-up from the ears. It helps to alleviate pressure that can lead to pain and poor balance, headaches, sinus pain, allergies, and helps to increase sound clarity. This treatment also includes a face massage and the application of essential oils around the ears that promote ear health. Available in a 30 minute session.

Gua sha, or friction massage, is a treatment most frequently performed on the back and neck. While particularly effective for loosening tight muscles, it can benefit a variety of respiratory conditions. A soothing liniment is applied to the affected areas before the practitioner applies pressure in a sweeping motion along the back.

Essential oils can be added to many treatments to bolster rejuvenation and relaxation. Every oil has unique properties to strengthen you in mind, body and spirit.

"One of the advantages of acupuncture is that the incidence of adverse effects is substantially lower than that of many drugs or other accepted medical procedures used for the same conditions." - National Institute of Health, Consensus Development Conference Statement

Using superfine, single-use, disposable needles, acupuncture treats symptoms ranging from low back pain and arthritis to migraine and insomnia by encouraging your body to correct imbalances on its own. Because of its influence not just on muscles and connective tissue but also hormones and neurotransmitters, acupuncture therapy is able to provide a broad spectrum of relief on a systemic level for a wide variety of conditions. See the list below for some of the symptoms acupuncture is often able to help.

Biofeedback Assessment

Using our biofeedback assessment tool, we can assess multiple energetic systems to give a comprehensive portrait of your health -- as well as what modalities could be of benefit.
